Gray Photography Custom Printing Services will meet your custom photographic print requirements. After 25 years of managing the printing and pre-press/ imaging department for a Wall Street Journal printing plant, Gary is an expert print maker. With over 26 years experience in producing the highest quality reproductions possible, I know that as a photographer or graphic artist, you have a number of options available to you. My primary interest is delivering you the highest possible quality. I'm am not a bulk printer that uses canned processes with poorly trained staff on poorly maintained equipment. Every print made is given individual treatment and scrutiny. Your satisfaction is our guarantee.
We don't price our prints to compete with the local chain stores or the high volume online-print services. That's not what we are about. We're about quality first. We are about maintaining the integrity of your artwork. Our work is customized to your needs and done by an expert print-maker. If you are interested in bulk printing on cheap paper and sloppy quality, you can take your prints to the local drugstore or chain store. If you want it done perfectly, you've found the place to get it done. I'm a craftsman and I take that approach...always.
Gray Photography Custom Printing
How it's done.
Our primary print system is a Hewlett Packard HP Z3100, 44 inch large format, Inkjet printer. Our digital workstation is color calibrated along with the printer, color profiles are maintained to the highest level of calibration. Our 12 ink printer is capable of handling sheet paper or roll paper up to 44 inches x 100 feet. HP's design life on the Vivera inks used in this printer is 200 years. The output results are outstanding by any standard.
Our standard paper is Premier Imaging Products Premium Photo Micropore Luster with a 10.4 mil thickness. We can; however, use any print paper that will accept pigment based inks.
When you wish to place an order, we will arrange for you to upload via FTP your image(s) to our website. We'll accept TIFF, JPG, DNG or PDF formatted files. Provide us with your specific requirements such as image dimensions, border size, quantity, paper type (if you want a specific paper). We will print it to your specifications, in the quantity you request. There will be no variation in color or contrast from print to print.
Once we've received your file, we'll load it into our Macintosh digital workstation and verify the quality of the image. If we feel that it may need adjusting to improve quality, we'll contact you and make the necessary suggestions. We can make adjustments as necessary to insure the highest quality print. If you specify that no adjustments be made, we can do that too. Our mission is your satisfaction with the print.
Once the image quality is verified, we'll do your print run. The final prints will be allowed to dry for 24 hours before we ship.
Our standard method of shipment is UPS ground; however, any common shipper is available. To keep your costs down, the prints are normally packaged in high strength shipping tubes. Other shipping specifications may be submitted as you require. We've found the tube packaging to be the most cost-effective and damage free method of shipment. Using this method, your prints may be curled of course and you may wish to remove them from the packaging and allow them to flatten before framing. Our standard paper has a low curl memory, so curled prints flatten out fairly quickly.
We charge by the square inch. If you want 100 4x6 inch prints or 50 8x10 inch prints, or 5 44x56 inch prints, we calculate your print cost based on the total square inches of the order.
Your prints will normally be shipped within one week of receipt (it may vary due to my travel and photographic schedule.) When you request a print job, I'll calculate your total cost and provide you a quote. Upon acceptance of that order, I'll charge you half the cost up front and the other half upon shipment. The only acceptable form of payment for orders via phone or internet is a major credit card, Visa, Mastercard, Discover. Local Denver area customers have the option of paying by cash or check.
Again, I would like to stress that making you the best print possible is my goal. With that goal in mind, I'll do everything in my power to insure you are satisfied with my work. I'll never take short-cuts and if after reviewing your image I feel that it won't make a good print, I'll tell you. My reputation as a print-maker and your satisfaction as a customer are bound together.
